Xiaomi recently announced only their second made-in-India device with the Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime for INR8499 (RM547). Following the Redmi Note design with a shinier plastic backplate, the Redmi Note Prime offers the following tech specs and features:

  • 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Storage + microSD
  • 5.5-inch display (IPS, 720 x 1280 pixel resolution)
  • 13MP rear camera (LED flash) + 5MP front camera
  • 154 x 78.7 x 9.4mm | 185g
  • supports 4G Dual SIM
  • Android 4.4 KitKat + MIUI 7
  • 3100 mAh battery

The older KitKat is a dead giveaway that this is a device for the value market who don't really care about the latest tech specs. However, the big battery and power sipping processor should result in a good battery saving phablet for those users. No Malaysia release dates (and there probably won't be considering that we already have the Redmi Note 2) but stay tuned and we'll keep you in the loop.
